When I moved in with my auntie, I didn’t expect her house to become the most stable part of my life. At first, I felt like I was just staying there for a while, but as the days passed, her home started to feel warm and steady—like a place that held me together. Even the soft smell of her cooking in the mornings made me feel safer than I had in a long time. One afternoon, while we were sitting at the table, she looked at me and said, “You can stay here and finish senior high school.” She said it so simply, but those words hit me hard. It felt like the kind of sentence that opens a door. For the first time, I felt someone truly believed I had a future.

Before living with her, I used to worry every night about what would happen to me. I felt lost, like I didn’t belong anywhere. But staying with my aunt changed that. She didn’t just give me a room—she gave me a chance. Sometimes she would say, “As long as you’re trying, you’re not alone,” and somehow that was enough to calm all the fear I carried. It’s funny in a way. I once thought I had nowhere to go, but I ended up in the one place that helped me grow the most. Because of her, I’m studying now. I’ve learned that even a small act of kindness can change a whole life. Her home wasn’t just a place to stay—it became the place where I started to believe in myself again.
